The way we breathe can change pain
Most of the time you have the ability to regulate your breath and this can empower you to change your relationship with pain! Begin making a habit out of basic diaphramatic breathing and take notice of how you feel. In fact, almost any breathing practice you are comfortable with, done repeatedly, could be your most powerful tool to manage and reduce pain.
When patients with chronic pain are studied for their breathing patterns, most are found to take shorter breaths that don’t go past their upper chest area.
Some breathwork is simply about noticing your breath, and not about changing it.
